The North Korea Research Group is currently accepting applications for a Director of Research. Both undergraduates and graduates are welcome to apply, but given the academic nature of the position, NKRG encourages graduate students to consider the position. The Director of Research should have a working knowledge of research methodology as well as a general knowledge of North Korean activities and background.

Job Description:

Director of Research
  • The Director will oversee NKRG's research groups and liaise with the Team Leader from each group throughout the year;
  • The Director will coordinate the NKRG's overall research schedule in preparation for end-of-year publications / reports;
  • The Director will help devise a research agenda for NKRG annually;
  • The Director will be jointly responsible for the coordinating and facilitating events and activities of the NKRG;
  • The Director will create a portfolio of his / her experiences, responsibilities, and contacts to be given to the next Director to facilitate smooth transition;
  • The Director will attend all meetings of the Executive Board;
  • The term of the Research Director will be for one year, renewable to a maximum of two years with application to the Co-Presidents who will consult with the Advisory Board.
